1. "We aRe LiVing In UniQue TimEs,.....It is no LOnger just a Matter of ChanGing ChanneLs.....Rather, Its a Matter of chanGing TechnoloGies.." by Fr. Christian Buenafe, CAM on Mediatization to the youth.....
As what Fr. Christian Buenafe defined that media serve as a channel or path for sending between communicators. A single channel_such as radio, book, or the telephone is called a medium; media is plural, meaning more than one medium.
Before, all documents are handwritten until media today changing more than ever, not only changing channels, ratger, a matter of changing technologies. During Industrial Revolution, freedom of verbal speech and printing communication evolved rapidly. As new communicator, media have developed. The existence now of newspapers, radio, television, telephone and etc. was the result of changing technologies that for many years the major sources of day-to-day information which are inexpensive for the audience.
Most observers agree that communication media and technology have contributed to a society that is changing very rapidly. Three lay issues have arisen in the tide of this rapid change: individuak privacy, coverage of politics in the media and availability of information. But there is a difference between media because printing encourages logical thinking that lays out ideas one step at a time while electronic media disrupt logical and linear thinking.
2-a. Internet is a computer-based global information system. It composed of many interconnected computer networks. Each network may links tens, hundreds or even thousands of computers, enabling to share information and processing. On the other hand, Internet has a greater contribution in the world of media because it brought new opportunities to government , business and education. It gives convenience to the communicators because internet may use for internal communication, distribution of information, automated tax processing, and individual may use it for communicating through electronic mail, retrieving news, researching information, shapping, paying bills, banking, listening music, watching movies, playing games, making telephone calls even making research.
b. Internet become a tool in media because it has made possible for many people all over the world to communicate with one another effectively and efficiently. It allows people to carry on discussions using written text through online chatting. Instant messaging enables people to exchange text messages, share digital photo, video and auto files.
C. Technology is very much poerful in every business and institutions especially to electronic commerce, also called e-commerece, including advertising, selling and buying, distributing products and providing customer service. In addition, most companies use new technologies for business to business transactions, such as exchanging financial information and accessing complex databases. Technology enable people to telecommunicate such as for voice and video conferencing and other forms of communications, (work away from he office using a computer). The use of e-mail speeds communications between companies, among co-workers, and among other individuals. In short, ne technologies is a channel for better future of the business and useful to individuals for communications, entertainment, finding information, and buying and selling goods and services.
3. It is sound interesting that techology of today became high, or that people of today are living in unique times. There is now the existence of televisions, computers, internet and etc. that makes life easier and faster. But, is that really mean that our economy is high considering the economic status of the majority? Still, I cannot make a conclusion.
" Hapag na Pag-asa" is a simple painting but signifies a deep meaning. A painting with Jesus and less fortunate children in the society, ( instead of the disciples), that Joel Velasco try to picture out whats the reality because nothing is real unless it happens on. This painting help me realized that people are not fair and equal because of the existence of less fortunate people. It is sad to know that there are children who experience early child labor, child abuses, robbery, and drug pushing engagement because of economic crisis. This reality will only mean that adapting new techologies are applicable only those individuals who have the capacity to
acquire whats in, in the society.
This only signifies the the explosive growth of technologies has raised concerns about the creation of a "digital divide" between those who can afford and cannot. Then the following questions will be left unaswered. "Will the poor be left behind as jobs and other opportunities incresing shift to internet-related business? Will those internet-access enjoy educational advantages over those without such access? Should the government step in to help?......
